EOTD (2/24/12)- Hello, Sweetheart! feat. Sugarpill

So, last Saturday I posted a low quality cell phone pic on my personal Facebook showing the makeup I was wearing with the promise that better quality pics and a blog post would be up soon. Well, in case you haven't noticed, it's Tuesday night. That counts as soon, right?

Eh. Better late than never.

This look basically stemmed from two thoughts floating in my little brain:
1) I wanted to do ink brows, as it had been a long time since I had done something like that and I finally had a good pink with which to do it.
2) I wanted to play with the other shadows in my Sugarpill Sweetheart Palette.

So here we go!

Face:
  • M.A.C. Studio Fix Fluid in NC15
  • M.A.C. Prep + Prime Translucent Setting Powder
  • 'Dollipop' by Sugarpill as the blusher
Eyes:
  • UDPP in 'Original'
  • NYX Jumbo Pencil in 'Milk', all over the lid to the brow and blended out
  • 'After Party' by Sugarpill, on the outer 'v' and crease and drawn over towards the nose
  • 'Midori' by Sugarpill, in the inner corner of the lid and just below 'After Party'- drawn towards the outside of the eye
  • 'Dollipop' by Sugarpill, in the center of the lid
  • 'Pretty Violet' Water Proof Liner by NYX, in the waterline and on the lower lash line.
  • 'Poison Plum' by Sugarpill, to set the purple liner
  • 'Dollipop',  on the inner corner of the lower lash line
  • NYX Studio Liquid Liner in 'Extreme Smokey Gray'
  • Pin-Up Tease mascara by NYX
  • 'Dollipop' brushed through the brows along with my usual brow eyeshadows: 'Teddy' by Too Faced and 'Brown Down' by M.A.C.
Lips:
  • 'Rose Garden lipstick by Clinique
  • 'Glam Guava' lipgloss by E.L.F.

EOTD (2/24/12)- "Wearable" Color Block, feat. Sugarpill

On Valentine's Day I placed an order with Sugarpill Cosmetics, since they were having a fabulous 20% off sale for their anniversary. Thursday, my package arrived. The Sweetheart Palette is now in my possession! [insert maniacal makeup junkie giggle here] And, of course, they sent a few freebies as well (one of the many reasons I love indie companies): a glittertastic sticker, I put this one on the back of my Nook case next to the sticker for my husband's band Joanie Hears Voices (shameless plug!); and a sample of their loose pigment 'Lumi', which I have been wanting to try for forever.

So, last night when I was getting ready for synagogue, I decided that I wanted to play with some of my new shadows- which was really a no brainer. Here's where the name of the look comes in as well. I've been wanting to try my hand at color blocking for a while, and I saw my opportunity and took it. I would say that this is a "wearable" version, because if I was going to un-wearable it would probably have yellow on the brow bone and turquoise on the lower lash line. Hmm...I might have to try that sometime soon...

Here's what I came up with:

I know what you're thinking. "You wore that to church?! You, ma'am, are bat crap crazy!" While I may be bat crap crazy, this really isn't all that unusual for me. The people at my congregation have watched me grow up, seen me go through several hair colors, and have seen me come in with makeup crazier than this. In fact, I think this is rather tame. But, hey, they love me and think I'm adorable. ;)

Face:
  • M.A.C. Studio Fix Fluid in NC15
  • M.A.C. Prep + Prime Translucent Finishing Powder
  • 'Sushi Flower' by M.A.C. as the blusher
Eyes:
  • UDPP in 'Original'
  • NYX Jumbo Pencil in 'Milk', blended all over the lid and up to the brow bone.
  • 'Dollipop' by Sugarpill, drawn out in a slight 'c' shape and blended through the crease and up. I used Scotch tape on the sides of my eyes to get the sharp outer edge
  • 'Flamepoint' by Sugarpill, on the lid
  • 'Tako' by Sugarpill, on the brow bone
  • NYX Studio Liquid Liner  in 'Extreme Black' and 'Extreme Smokey Gray', I started out with the black, but had to finish out with the gray as my black is about dried out. It's a simple winged liner, and I followed the clean edge made with the tape
  • Pin-Up Tease mascara by NYX, on the top lashes
  • Forever Your Curl mascara by Stila, on the bottom lashes
Lips:
  • 'Sublime Culture' lip liner by M.A.C.
  • 'Creme D'Nude' lipstick by M.A.C.
  • 'Glam Guava' lipgloss by E.L.F.

NTMS- Gradient Eyeliner

This is a first for me, and I have to say that not only did I enjoy creating this look, but wearing it as well. I have a feeling that this will become an Aimee makeup staple.

Plus, any excuse to play with my Sugarpill palette. I mean, come on! Sugarpill is the shiz!

Face:
  • M.A.C. Studio Fix Fluid in NC15
  • M.A.C. Prep + Prime Translucent Setting Powder
  • M.A.C. 'Frankly Scarlet' as the blusher
Eyes:
  • UDPP in 'Original'
  • 'Brulee' eyeshadow by Wet N' Wild, all over the lid
  • Gray/Brown eyeshadow by M.A.C., in the crease. (the eyeshadow is nameless, it came in the Colourizations Duo #3)
  • For the gradient effect I used all the shadows from the Burning Heart Palette by Sugarpill. From the inner corner out is: 'Buttercupcake', 'Flamepoint', 'Love+', and 'Poison Plum'. All shadows were applied over NYX Jumbo Pencil in 'Milk', to give the shadows something to stick to.
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Cream Liner in 'Blackest Black', applied in a very thin line across the upper lash line.
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Milk', in the water line set with a white eyeshadow
  • NYX Retractable Eyeliner in 'Aqua Green', along the lower lash line and set with 'Flipside' by Urban Decay
  • NYX Pin-Up Tease mascara
Lips:
  •  Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in 'Ignite'

NTMS- Rocky Horror Picture Show

To say that  was excited about this week's challenge would be a massive understatement. I absolutely adore Rocky Horror. A lot. I friggin love this movie. Serious business.

I decided to go Magenta with this challenge, since she is my favorite character from the film. Patricia Quinn is gorgeous, and the look of her character, as well as the other members of FrankN'Furter's household, is iconic.

I actually did dress up as Magenta two years ago for Halloween, and I'm delighted to say that my skills have improved since then. I will say though, that the look that I did for the challenge is actually wearable compared to her look in the film and what I did two years ago- both of them had a more greasepaint theatrical vibe to them.

Also, I would like to state that I wore this makeup out with my Hubby yesterday for Valentine's. We've never followed the "normal" Valentine's Day celebration proceedings anyways. Example: Last night we ate burgers, picked up a few cupcakes and saw a horror film- namely 'The Woman In Black', which was excellent by the way and it scared the crap out of both of us. Loved it!

Anywhos. Let's get on with it.

This is the picture that I used for reference:

You can see what I mean about her makeup being very theatrical. When I wore this for Halloween I did go all out- 2 pairs of false lashes and everything. But, as I said before, the look I did for the challenge is the slightly more wearable version.

Pics!

As you can see, I kept all of the color elements very much intact, but they are much softer.

I seriously love this look.

Face:
  • M.A.C. Studio Fix Fluid in NC15
  • M.A.C. Prep + Prime Translucent Finishing Powder
  • Wet n' Wild blush in 'Mellow Wine'
Eyes:
  • UDPP in 'Original'
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Milk', on the brow bone and blended down.
  • Matte White eyeshadow from the BH Cosmetics 120 Pro Palette, to set the NYX pencil.
  • Red-Orange eyeshadow from the BH Cosmetics 120 Pro Palette, just to map out the crease.
  • 'V' eyeshadow from the Tarte for True Blood Palette, in the crease.
  • Sephora Waterproof Kohl Liner in 'Keep Black', along the upper and lower lash lines and also in the upper and lower waterlines.
  • 'Legend' eyeshadow from the Tarte for True Blood Palette, to blend out and set the kohl liner, and also packed all over the lid
  • Pin-Up Tease mascara by NYX
Lips:
  • 'Red Hot' lip pencil by NYX
  • 'Heartless' lipstick by M.A.C.
  • Lipgloss by Sephora- I'm sorry I do not know the name of the lipgloss. It looks black in the tube, with glitter, but when applied it just servers to slightly darken the shade you're wearing.

EOTD- Stockholm Syndrome

I know that 'Stockholm Syndrome' is probably one of the craziest (no pun intended) names for a makeup look, but, hey, it is what it is. Honestly, I think I got the title because I've been listening to a lot of Muse lately and this song must have been playing in the background while I was slapping my face on. So we're just gonna go with it.

So with this look I really wanted to play with a few NYX items I picked up at Ulta yesterday. I grabbed three of their waterproof eyeliners (two of them are retractable) and their Pin-Up Tease mascara. I won't go into too much detail, especially since I've only tried one of the liners and the mascara, but I promise that there's a review and pics forthcoming.

Let's get to the look, shall we?

Face:
  • M.A.C. Studio Fix Fluid in NC15
  • M.A.C. Prep + Prime Translucent Setting Powder
  • 'Corail Frission' blush by Sephora
Eyes:
  • UDPP in 'Original'
  • 'Darkhorse' eyeshadow by Urban Decay, all over the lid and up over the
  • 'Hustle' eyeshadow by Urban Decay, over the first eyeshadow as a wash and to blend everything out
  • 'Sin' eyeshadow by Urban Decay, as the brow bone highlight
  • NYX Slide On, Glide On, Stay On & Definitely A Turn On Waterproof Extreme Shine Eye Liner (Yes, that is the full name. Serious business) in 'Pretty Violet', in the waterline and along the lower lash line.
  • 'Poison Plum' eyeshadow by Sugarpill, to set the eyeliner (probably didn't need it, but oh well) and to add some more purple deliciousness
  • Sephora Waterproff Kohl Liner in 'Keep Black', in the upper tightline
  • Pin-Up Tease mascara by NYX
Lips:
  • 'Sublime Culture' lip pencil by M.A.C.
  • 'Creme d'Nude' lipstick by M.A.C.
  • 'Sunset Peach' lipgloss by Revlon
I know I used that last lip color combo in the second Valentine's look I did, but I do really like it and a nude lip just seemed to fit this look.

Since I mentioned Muse, I thought I'd leave off with their song 'Stockholm Syndrome'. It's a great song, and one of my faves.

See you later, my freaky darlings.

NTMS- Valentine's Look.

This week's challenge was to produce either a Pro or Anti Valentine's Day look. Well, to be completely honest, I'm neither Pro nor Anti Valentine's. I just want the candy the day after when it all goes on sale. I'm like the Switzerland of the Valentine's camps. Ha!

I came up with 2 looks. One is super out there, like purple eyeshadow up to the eyebrow out there, and the other is more on the soft and romantic side of things. The out there look I sported Saturday night, pre-nose piercing (I did get my nose pierced later that night), and the softer look I wore yesterday, post-nose piercing. And, in case you're wondering, no it didn't hurt. :)
