The theme? 1920s.
I absolute adore 1920s style, both in its fashion and makeup. It seems like the ladies of the Jazz Age really knew how to straddle the line between masculine and feminine and the did it with grace and poise. In fact, one of my style icons is the fabulous Clara Bow- Hollywood's original "It Girl'.
The look I put together today is super simple and is easy to recreate. If you want to go with a more bold look, simply use darker shadows. Also, if you want to go for something that is more authentic to the period, then I highly suggest that you block out your eyebrows and re-drawing them to be slightly lower than natural and pencil thin. I didn't for this tutorial as I figured that most people wouldn't want to go through the hassle. It actually isn't difficult to do, but it can be a bit time consuming- it's definitely not something that you want to rush. I'm going to link the video that I learned from here.
Anywhos. Let's get on with the pics!

- Shimmery Golden Brown from the 'Ivy' quad by E.L.F. over the previous shadows
- 'Dusk' (matte tan) by Tarte for True Blood to blend out the edges
- Brown/Grey eyeshadow, again, along the lower lash line
- 'Werewolf' eyeshadow, again, along the lower lash line and smoked down and blended in with the shadows on the lid

- 'Milk' jumbo pencil by NYX, in the waterline and set with a matte white eyeshadow
- Rimmel Soft Kohl Eyeliner in 'Jet Black' in the tightline

Just a few production notes. To really keep the 1920s look, pay attention to the following:
1) The emphasis should be on the inner corner of the eye, not the outer. I know that it's completely opposite of how makeup is done in this day and age, but that's the point. We are doing period makeup afterall.
2) No matter how much you really want to use just black in your water line, resist the urge! If you look at photographs of Hollywood starlets in the 1920s the the water line was bare and most likely whitened out.
3) Lips were a bit smaller in shape, and the Cupid's Bow was often defined, or if you didn't have much of one, exaggerated. Bee stung lips were quite the thing.
I'm going to stop my authenticity rant and send you over to Christa now. Her look is fabulous, so definitely go check it out!
See you later my freaky darlings!
